Naturopathic and functional medicine practitioners, the ones actually focused on root causes, hormones, and immune health, were excluded from insurance coverage entirely. Screening schedules were built around cost, not biology.

HPV is the root cause of cervical cancer and the immune system is responsible for clearing it. Yet standard of care focuses on removing tissue. Not investigating immune function, nutrient status, or hormonal health.

The screening schedule allows HPV infections to persist for years with no clinical reason to intervene. It was designed around cost and access. Not the biology of the virus or the woman carrying it.
It is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen.

Atargatis is an ancient goddess of fertility, protection, and transformation worshipped as early as 1000 BCE as the mother of all life. Associated with the moon, water, and the cycles of creation and healing.
When she cast herself into a sacred lake, she didn't disappear. She transformed. Half woman, half force of nature. A rebirth, not an escape.
Her story mirrors what so many women experience on their health journeys: grief, shame, judgment and then rebirth, strength, and self-determination. She didn't follow the rules. She became her own medicine.
